Throwing Day Workshop - Fully booked

With the clay prepared and ready for using when you arrive, join me for half a day on the potter’s wheel in March. This throwing day is for beginners who’ve always wanted a go on the wheel and for intermediates who would like to improve their skills.

If you are a beginner, I will go through each stage of making a pot on the wheel with you from preparing the individual balls of clay and centring to bringing up the wall to finishing your rim and lifting your pot off the wheel. If you’re more experienced, we can focus on getting the most out of the clay, throwing specific pieces such as bowls or jugs or throwing bigger pieces. Close tuition and demonstrations will be given.

Spaces are limited to two, with tools and an apron provided. There will be hot drinks and biscuits for you too.

Morning sessions: 10am – 1pm, cost: £75

Afternoon sessions: 2pm – 5pm, cost: £75

If you’re really eager and want to do a full day, you’re more than welcome, £150

You can take your pots with you (please bring a box) and finished on another day (firing fees will apply) or can be used as practice pieces and reclaimed at the end of the day.

To book on with a deposit, or for more information, please contact me here. The workshop address will be given once you have confirmed your booking.

This workshop is for adult potters.

Tealight Holder Workshop *Fully Booked*

Join me for a day of pottery in my workshop making ceramic tealight holders. We will make them using clay slabs and predesigned carboard templates. You can either bring along your own template (finished sizes no more than 15cm) or use one of the ones provided. The slabs will be rolled out and ready for you when arrive so we can get stuck in. If soft slabs are needed, you can make your own on the day. We will add detail to the pieces using slip and traditional decorating techniques to create unique and distinctive patterns once you have built your tealight holder.

Through demonstrations and one-to-one guidance, you will learn the techniques of making, joining and finishing making a slab-built piece.

The cost of the workshop is £80 and is limited to five places. Your pieces will be fired and glazed for you for an additional fee of £16 per piece.

For lunch, you can bring a picnic with you or you can visit the small shop in Sixpenny Handley and the delicious cafe at Cranborne Garden Centre, only 4mi away. There will be tea, coffee and biscuits for you too.

To book on with a deposit, or for more information, please contact me here. The workshop address will be given once you have confirmed your booking.
