The atmosphere of the reduction firing brings out a multitude of warm tones in the speckled orange glaze – from rust orange, warm red to metallic grey with speckles of all colours throughout the surface.

The chemistry of the green glaze creates a variety of shiny bright apple green areas to satin areas with pale blue speckles areas. Where the glaze is very thick, it has a matt metallic finish.

The feeder is made on the potter’s wheel using a stoneware clay. The three large ‘windows’ encourage the birds to stay for longer and make it easier to clean. The curved base and six holes allow the rain water to drain. The coloured wire is upcycled and can be knotted in several ways to hang from any branch or hook.

Fill with seeds and meal worms and it won’t be long before your garden birds will be queuing up to eat from it.
