Artist Statement

The making processes have always been inspirational for me, throwing and slip decoration in particular.

Using a combination of traditional decorating techniques, sgraffito, inlay and paper resist, I create contemporary surface decorations inspired by my love of pattern, line and colour.

I embrace the natural imperfections and qualities of the materials and decorating techniques. They are what give the pieces their individual character.

My Willow Vegetable Collection is based on the allotment I shared with a friend in Salisbury, England. I found broken pottery fragments while digging the earth and combine the patterns from these with the vegetables we grew.
